Mountain Biking

Scotland is well known for its Mountain Biking, it is a world class destination, hosting many spectacular events in previous years. A very iconic event happens at Ben Nevis, which is the UCI Downhill World Cup.

With the most magnificent scenery, through Scottish Glens and Valleys the Scottish landscape was made for Mountain Biking!

Road Cycling

Road Cycling is becoming increasingly popular in Scotland, many adventure lovers are cycling iconic sections of The North Coast 500, which has been tipped Scotland’s version of the Route 66.

Scotland has some of the toughest and longest hill climbs in the UK for Road Cyclists. The Bealach Na Ba is a personal favourite of ours. If the scenery doesn’t take your breath away then the hill climb certainly will!

Quieter Routes

Scotland also has some fantastic routes for those relaxed days, with canal paths stretching for miles on end, to quiet single track roads far away from the hustle and bustle. Sustrans do a fantastic job in Scotland. Working on the National Cycle Network in Scotland. Which has approximately 1,643 miles (2,644 km) of National Cycle Network routes in Scotland. Including 702 miles of traffic-free routes which use a mix of railway path, canal towpath, forest roads and segregated cycle lanes.

Bike Packing Holiday

After watching Mark Beaumont and GCN bike pack around the North Coast 500 it inspired us to try it, albeit we did a mix of cycling and then using the Campervan with bike rack to move around the route. We had a great time and although not as fit or as fast as the athletes that inspired us, sure we had just as much fun.

Using the Campervan with a Bike Rack installed is a fantastic way to have a cycling themed holiday. You are able to cherry pick which locations you would like to cycle, whether that be specific hill climbs or particular points of interest.

Cycling Events

The Campervans with bike racks are also another super easy way to join events or sportives. You are able to drive to some of these sportives which lay further afield, much like the Etappe Loch Ness. The flexible nature of the Campervan allows you to take your bike to remote locations and still be self sufficient, not having to worry about getting their, accomodation or where to eat.
