what are the highland games?
Well the Scottish Highland Games are just as iconic as Bagpipes, Tartan Kilts or Whisky and have been celebrated throughout Scotland since the 1800’s.
Contestants compete in a series of events including the Caber Toss, Hammer Throw and the Tug of War.
Their are also Musical & Performance events including Highland Dancing and Pipe & Drum Bands.
The modern Highland Games events are not only just Games where contestants compete against one another but a festival of all things Scottish. So if you are interested in seeing Traditional Highland Dancing, Traditional Clothing, Kilts and Armour and don’t forget the amazing stalls of Authentic Scottish food and drink including plenty of locally sourced Whisky.
The Highland Games are truly a great day out, one not to be missed. If you happen to be out exploring in one of our Campervans or Motorhomes and their is a Highland Games festival on nearby, we would definitely recomend setting up camp and enjoying the show!
